Dr Sarah Whalley is Research Strategy Manager at Newcastle University where she is Professional Services lead for the University’s Research Strategy.
She works with senior leaders and colleagues to deliver transformative change initiatives, including the Newcastle University Centres of Research Excellence, which aim to address global challenges through interdisciplinary collaborations. Her team are responsible for the delivery of various initiatives within the research strategy, including the Newcastle University Academic Track (NUAcT) scheme and the University’s Research Culture Action Plan.
With 17 years of experience in the Higher Education sector, she is passionate about developing and implementing strategies that enhance the research environment and student experience across multiple disciplinary contexts. She has a strong background in research management and administration, having worked at School, Faculty, and University levels at Newcastle University and other institutions. She holds a PhD in English Literature from the University of Nottingham (2012), retaining a passion for literary historical research, and she also holds the the APM Project Management Qualification (2021).
