As part of our Member theme for October, ‘Diversity and inclusion – the critical governance role’ Victoria Holbrook, Assistant Director, Governance and a UK university board member, has written a briefing for all higher education governors and governance professionals. It covers six key areas of focus for governing bodies in 2020-21.
While higher education is used to ongoing change driven by the evolving needs of its students and stakeholders, coping with a public health emergency has tested our institutions in a number of ways. Whether that is mitigating the impact of changes in student recruitment; making the transition to online learning at breakneck speed; or managing to keep staff and students safe on campus, we have learned so much about the capability and capacity of our sector.
