Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) are supporting a second group of academics at the university to apply for fellowship after Advance HE ran a writing workshop at the university in 2018.
Following an Advance HE workshop in 2018, 21 Senior Fellows were recognised at SWU, including a large number of staff from healthcare backgrounds. After their initial experience, SWU are now supporting a second group of staff to apply. Fellows at SWU will be mentoring their colleagues, and Advance HE experts will be providing feedback on their applications before submission. Senior Fellowship recognises the work staff at SWU have undertaken to lead, manage or mentor the teaching of colleagues, and the applications have been underpinned by a range of professional development activities and workshops that SWU delivers for its staff each year.
A key member of the SWU leadership team has also been recognized for her strategic leadership of teaching. Vice President for Academic Affairs at SWU, Professor Pansiri Phansuwan, recently became the second Principal Fellow in Thailand, recognising her institutional and national level work on teaching and learning for the Higher Education Commission in Thailand.
Ian Hall, Head of International Membership at Advance HE, said:
“Srinakharinwirot University has embraced Fellowship as a means of recognising the great work of its teaching staff.
“It’s really pleasing to see such a large number of staff applying for Fellowship, and for the staff that have achieved Fellowship to act as mentors and provide support to their colleagues, providing a sustainable way of supporting their teachers moving forwards.”
Dr Pansiri said: “I am delighted to receive my Principal Fellowship from Advance HE. Applying for Principal Fellowship provided an opportunity to reflect on my work supporting teaching both within my institution, and also nationally through my work with the Thai POD network (Professional and Organizational Development Network of Thailand Higher Education) and the sub-committee on following up national reform in higher education of the Senate.
"I am particularly pleased to see so many of my colleagues also achieving Fellowship, demonstrating the commitment that SWU has to great teaching.”
