National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Taiwan recently celebrated its fifth cohort of Advance HE fellows and reached the milestone of over 100 Fellows awarded. Today, NYCU has 121 fellows based in 17 colleges around Taiwan, with more staff now working towards fellowship.
To celebrate the success of their fellows and reaching this milestone, NYCU held a Teacher's Day Award Ceremony, where the success of all the fellows was recognised and applauded by the University’s Vice President Shun-Hua Wei.
Alongside the 121 fellows, NYCU also have more than 20 cofacilitators helping to localise higher education theories and international practises, as presented in Advance HE’s Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (CLTHE) and helping fit and adapt the programme for a Taiwan specific context. This helps to make the certificate and programme that precedes it more accessible the University’s staff. As well as this, more than 25 members of NYCU faculty from their various colleges now serve as Advance HE mentors or teaching consultants, allowing even more members of staff to either improve their teaching or work towards Advance HE fellowship themselves.
Overall, the work undertaken by NYCU has led to academic success, their Advance HE fellows have been presented with a total of 31 campus awards for outstanding teaching, mentoring, and course design in 2022 alone.
