Before joining Advance HE, Robiu was the chair of the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic staff Network at the University of Bristol and managed the 'Be More Empowered for Success' programme, which employed student advocates to co-create events and projects that sought to foster belonging as well as improve students' experience on campus. Robiu was awarded the University of Bristol Staff Member of the Year award for his work in supporting BAME students at the 2019 Bristol Students’ Union Award.
Robiu continues to pursue his passion for inclusive change outside the higher education sector. He is currently a member of the Independent Oversight & Advisory Panel for the Criminal Justice in Wales and also served as a Non-Executive Director at Newport City Homes, the largest housing association in Newport.
