The Student Academic Experience Survey is an annual survey, conducted by Advance HE and the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), which seeks to understand and track undergraduate student experience in UK higher education.
In 2024, over 10,300 full time undergraduate students responded to the survey with the findings revealing an increasingly positive student experience, improvement in perceptions of value for money from their course, and greater satisfaction with contact hours and teaching. At the same time, the cost-of-living crisis is affecting students’ mental health and their overall perceptions of value, while increasing their workloads.
Overall, there has been a recovery in value for money perceptions to pre-pandemic levels and a significant decline in students who thought their studies were 'poor' or 'very poor' value.
Further detail can be found in the press release, with the full report of the findings available for download below.
