A new toolkit to support practitioners advance scholarship and research within technical and professional college-based higher education curricula is published today (7 July).
Devised in collaboration with the Advance HE College-Based HE Network (CBHE), the CBHE Scholarly Activity & Research Toolkit provides guidance for staff working in UK college-based higher education institutions who wish to participate in scholarly activity and enhance the learning experience for students within the HE sector from a college-based perspective.
Launched through Advance HE’s Collaborative Development Fund in March 2022, the CBHE Network provides insights and a solution-focused approach to developing higher education cultures in college settings.
Its new toolkit provides guidance and links to helpful resources to support CBHE providers in developing scholarly activity and research within their institutions and as part of a higher education culture.
Dr Jo Tyssen, lead contact for the CBHE Network and Head of HE Quality and Student Support at University Centre Leeds said, “I am really excited about the launch of this practical toolkit; something that is a genuinely collaborative output from work of the CBHE Network members over the last year.
“To be able to connect with CBHE colleagues from across the nations has been truly valuable and to evidence our work through this toolkit, and at the launch of our first annual Festival of Scholarly Activity and Research, is a fantastic means to celebrate all things CBHE and the incredible work CBHE practitioners do, whilst supporting colleagues to continue building their research portfolios.
“I can’t wait to hear about how it has been implemented in member institutions and to learn through the dissemination of their findings.”
Now with 98 individual members, from 59 college-based higher education providers across the UK and Channel Islands, the CBHE Network brings together practitioners to share practice and collaborate on the challenges and complexities of college- based HE.
The Network’s first-ever Festival of Scholarly Activity and Research, a one-day event at The Sheffield College, is on 10 July 2023.
